From Tailors with Love: Episode 12 — The James Bond Dossier

This week on From Tailors with Love, Peter talks with David Leigh of The James Bond Dossier. The James Bond Dossier was founded in 2002, and it provided me with my initial understanding of the basics and essentials of James Bond clothing beyond what I could see for myself in the films. I also thank David Leigh’s website for giving me an all-around better understand of the James Bond character. It is still one of the greatest James Bond websites on the internet.

Before Pete talks with David Leigh, Pete and I discuss Daniel Craig’s herringbone coat and long point-collared shirt that he has recently been spotted wearing on the set of Knives Out. We also talk about why a Roger Moore Bogner ski jacket was recently pulled from auction.

With the news that Secret Cinema in London is doing Casino Royale, Pete tells me more about what they do and his experience at their showing of The Empire Strikes Back.

In listener mail, I answer the following questions:

Matt which is your favourite stylistic non-Bond film that features Pierce Brosnan, for me it’s the Thomas Crown Affair? His crisp suits and effortless demeanour still holds up and even usurps the Douglas Hayward suits of Steve McQueen in the original, what do you think?
—Mike Schneider

Bond has never had a scene in the franchise where he visits a tailor. If you could write that scene what would it look like and who would be in the scene?
—Jonathan Hart
